Each year, after the December issue of Singing News is completed, an end-of-the-year radio airplay chart is tabulated from all twelve charts that were published for that year.
When the Top 40 Songs of 2012 chart was tabulated, "I Want To Know" by The Mark Trammell Quartet had earned the most points for the year, making it the No. 1 song for 2012, according to the total cumulative points earned from January, 2012 through December, 2012.
Mark Trammell was asked about his reaction when he heard the news. "At first I was in shock," shares Trammell, "then it dawned on me that when God does something, He does it perfectly, and in order!" Trammell continues, "'I Want To Know' was our first No. 1 (August, 2012), and for it to have stayed at the top of the charts long enough to become the No. 1 song for the year, I have to thank Daywind, and Susan Whisnant, and all the folks who work so hard for us in radio. I also have to thank Pat Barker, who took a nearly 70-year-old song and made it his own!"
The Top 40 Songs of 2012 is an end-of-the-year chart showing which songs earned the most points during 2012. This chart reflects the tabulation of all points earned by songs that appeared on the January, 2012 through December, 2012 charts. It will be printed in the January, 2013 issue of Singing News magazine.
