Tony & TaRanda Greene (UPDATED AUG. 26, 3:30 P.M.)

- Staff
Tuesday, August 25, 2009

August 26, 3:30 p.m. - Singing News has just learned from Luke White, who posted all the updates on Tony & TaRanda yesterday, that TaRanda is doing well and has been up and walking around. Tony is still in ICU, the kidney is functioning great, and he is sitting up and talking. The doctors are monitoring his stress level which is high at this time. The doctors have advised them that this is normal after transplant procedures. Hopefully they will move Tony to a room on the same floor as TaRanda sometime tomorrow.

Apparently some rumors about Tony's condition were circulating last night, but everyone is doing great at this point.

Please continue to remember them in your prayers.

===SECOND POST===

Boone, NC - Singing News has just learned that TaRanda has returned to her room. The procedure went fine and she is resting comfortably. They were able to remove the kidney laparoscopically instead of having to make a large incision. The doctors reported that the kidney was in great shape and seems to be  functioning well.

Tony will be in ICU for 24-48 hours, then in isolation for several days.

Please continue to remember the Greenes in your prayers as they begin their recovery process.

===ORIGINAL POST===

Singing News has learned from Kim Hopper that TaRanda Greene was taken back around 6 a.m. to start the process of removing the kidney that she is donating to her husband, Tony. Tony was taken back at approximately 7 a.m. to begin preparations to receive his new kidney. At this point, the doctors have given them a report that everything is progressing fine and Tony should have the new kidney in place within minutes.

Please remember Tony & TaRanda Greene, as well as their family in your prayers.

We will post updated information as soon as possible.
