Donny Cooke Hit By Van

- Danny Jones
Monday, April 19, 2004

Singing News has learned that Donny Cooke, drummer for the Singing Cookes (and vocalist with the Cooke Brothers), was hospitalized Saturday and Sunday at Cabell Hospital in Huntingdon, WV, after being struck by a vehicle as he was unloading equipment off of the Singing Cookes' bus in Grayson, KY.

According to eyewitnesses, a car hit a mini-van in the rear, knocking the van into the bus and into Donny, striking him in the hip and leg. After being hit, Donny was thrown over the van approximately 40 feet, breaking the windshield with his head.

After being stabilized at the scene of the accident, Donny was airlifted to Cabell Hospital. Despite numerous large cuts and scrapes, a broken nose and many bruises, doctors feel that Donny will completely recover.

If you'd like to send a Donny a card of encouragement, you may do so by writing to The Singing Cookes, PO Box 1758, Kingsport, TN, 37662.
