Old Fashioned Pound Cake


1 pound unsalted butter at room temp

3 cups sugar

6 eggs at room temp

4 cups plain flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

Pinch of nutmeg

1 cup milk at room temp

1 tablespoon lemon extract

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Pre-heat oven to 300 degrees.  Using an electric mixer, cream together butter and sugar. Add eggs one at a time, beating after each addition.  Set aside.  In another bowl, stir together the flour, salt, baking powder and nutmeg.  Mix together the lemon and vanilla extracts with the milk, and add to the butter mixture.  Combine the butter mixture with the dry mixture.  Pour batter into floured and greased tube or bundt pan.  Bake for 1 1/2 hours, or until cake is golden brown.  Cool, slice, and enjoy!
