Red Velvet Pound Cake

7 eggs

3 cups sugar

1 1/2 c Crisco

2 oz of red food coloring

1/8 tsp salt

3 cups cake flour

1 c buttermilk

2 tsp vanilla  

Cream sugar and Crisco. Add eggs 1 at a time, beating thoroughly after each. Add flour and buttermilk alternately. Add vanilla and red food coloring. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 1/2 hours.

Icing:

1 8-oz pkg cream cheese

1 box of powdered sugar

1 tsp vanilla

Dash of salt

Mix preceding ingredients and spread on cake.
